Spring Junior Clinic Program 2026 – Starts from Saturday, April 25th

Classes will have a maximum ratio of 6 players to 1 coach/court. Some classes may have lower ratios. Ratios will be adjusted to reflect the latest guidelines from public health. All players must be members of UTC.

NOTE:

  • The UTC Coaching Staff will move players to more appropriate groups as necessary.

  • Classes may be cancelled if there is insufficient registrations.

The recreational junior program teaches kids the fundamentals of the game and offers a pathway from starting to play all the way to becoming a seasoned match player. Learning is based on developing an understanding of footwork, technical skills, and basic tactics. Our coaching team has a great deal of experience working with developing players and tournament players alike.

Junior High Performance Training

Junior HP Program 2026: Starts Monday, May 4th

Acceptance into and placement within the program will be at the discretion of the coaching staff.

Tryouts will be held on Sat, April 25th from 10am-12pm.  Players not available for this time can contact Andy Sutton at utctennisdirector@gmail.com to arrange for an alternate time to be assessed.

The High-Performance Tennis Program develops players by providing a full tactical understanding of the game and then ensures players are taught, acquire, and enhance the skills necessary to execute the tactics in match play.  The program is led by Andy Sutton (UTC’s Tennis Director, a Tennis Canada certified Coach 3 and an Ontario Tennis Association certified Club Professional 3, and Head Ontario Coach Developer) and Liam Sutton (UTC’s Head Professional, an Ontario Tennis Association Club Professional 2 candidate, and member of the York Lion’s Varsity Tennis Team).  This program is designed to develop all facets of our players’ games by focusing on their tactical, technical, physical, and psychological skills. We address physical skills to assist with lateral movement, balance, agility, and speed during the tennis training.

Match play will be integrated into the program to allow players to compete under the watchful eye of the coaching staff.  Players will be coached on match management techniques and how to analyze opponents playing style, weaknesses, and strengths.  Coaches will also advise and give tips on tactical play and to make sure the players are using the technical skill learned in the training sessions while they compete.  This is the best way to develop good habits!!
