Court Booking Rules
Updated Booking Rules as of May 1st, 2025
a). Court booking is open 6 days in advance at 12pm. For example, you can book a court for the following Sunday, at 12pm the Monday before. During regular season we allow members to hold or be part of 3 active booking. This may be adjusted from time to time based on special circumstances and time of the season that may affect court availability.
b). Only members who have booked online will be permitted on the courts (outside of public hours and whiteboard booking hours). Singles & Doubles play only.
c). Court time is limited to 1 hour for singles and 2 hours for doubles. Four (4) members names are required for doubles bookings and at least two (2) members names are required for singles bookings. Members must vacate the court immediately after their booked time if others are waiting to play.
d). Court cancellations are required 12 hrs before the booked time. Reservations cancelled within 12 hours of the reserved court time and no-shows will incur a penalty. After 3 penalties, court booking privileges will be withheld for 7 days. During this penalty period, the member will not be able to book any courts on our booking system. Any special circumstances may be reported by email
to courtreserve@unionvilletennisclub.ca.
e). The UTC board reserves the right to issue penalties to members for any conduct that is considered misuse of the booking system.
f). Rain-out courts or wet courts do not need to be cancelled and will not result in any penalty. The court bookings will be cancelled during monitored hours as soon as the monitor sees that the courts are not playable. For light drizzle and intermittent rain, please call the clubhouse at (905) 470-7059 for further information. If there is no answer then monitor shift has been cancelled and no
penalty will be accessed. Clay court conditions are more difficult to determine playability. Red cones and signs indicate do not play. Even when no cones, members need to use their own judgement on playability.
g). The club reserves the right to move bookings to any other court or cancel the court if necessary to accommodate club programming. Members will be notified should this occur. This does not take place often and we do our best to provide other options and accommodate players if it does happen.
Code of Conduct
1. Members must check-in/register by scanning their Court Reserve QR code when the clubhouse is
open. If a monitor is on duty, they can assist.
2. ID must be presented to the monitor if requested, otherwise you can be refused play. UTC
membership is non transferable, and non refundable. UTC membership ID may only be used by the
person to whom it was originally issued.
3. Only proper tennis attire (including proper tennis shoes) will be allowed on the courts. (Jeans,
cut-offs, casual shoes and sandals will not be permitted.)
4. Members must use the court walkways, gates and clubhouse for quick and quiet access to the
courts.
5. Remove clay from your shoes each time after playing on the clay courts using the cleaning
facilities provided.
6. A maximum of 4 players are allowed on the court at one time. Spectators are not permitted on
the court.
7. The following are not permitted in the club facilities:
Abusive language or behaviour
Spitting on the courts
Alcoholic beverages
Animals of any kind
Skateboards, scooters or roller blades
Cell phones are not to be used on the courts
8. Have fun and enjoy your game - remember tennis etiquette!
Talk quietly on the court and when standing near tennis courts in use.
To retrieve a ball from another court, wait until the players have completed a point to ask
them to return it to you. To return a ball to another court, wait for a break in play on their
court or roll the ball to the back of their court.
Be respectful of others.
